LexisNexis launches enhanced IDVerse with deepfake detection

Fri, 5th Dec 2025

LexisNexis Risk Solutions has released an enhanced version of its identity verification platform, LexisNexis IDVerse, bringing improved document and biometric authentication to sectors such as financial services, gaming, retail, and telecommunications.

Fraud tactics

Organisations face rising threats from fraudsters leveraging generative artificial intelligence to produce fake identification, alter images and facilitate account takeovers. Many firms continue to rely on disparate tools for device assessment, behavioural monitoring and identity checks. This fragmented approach can create procedural gaps, increase operational costs and complexity, and introduce customer friction that undermines both security and user experience.

Integrated verification

The updated IDVerse platform seeks to address these issues through unified fraud detection, offered via the LexisNexis Dynamic Decision Platform. Companies can use a single API to access device risk detection, digital identity profiling, risk pattern analysis, suspicious behaviour monitoring, and identity fraud controls. The platform covers document and biometric verification in one integrated process.

Deepfake detection

IDVerse's advanced technology incorporates proprietary artificial intelligence models designed to identify both deepfakes and synthetic identities. The system's deepfake detection operates server-side and does not require additional steps from users, aiming to counter advanced liveness fraud and impersonation methods at the source.

Global coverage

IDVerse is capable of recognising and extracting personally identifiable information from government-issued photo identification in over 220 countries and territories, supporting verification in more than 140 languages and typesets. This is intended to benefit organisations with international customers and compliance obligations.

User experience

New features include a 'conceal mode', which removes the user's image from the display during selfie capture, addressing concerns that viewing themselves on screen can deter some users. The updated approach employs depth perception models that do not require the individual to perform specific actions, such as smiling, supporting a wider range of user abilities. The platform also uses video-based document capture that blocks AI-generated or tampered images.

Camera AI helps optimise image quality by dynamically managing frames and minimising glare and blur, while optical character recognition data is captured and stitched across frames for greater precision. The platform's user interface now features a six-screen process, aiming to lower step count and reduce abandonment rates. LexisNexis Risk Solutions reports a reduction in average capture times from 12 seconds to almost instant results, with compatibility for both front and rear device cameras.

Fraud prevention

According to the company, the technology is designed to validate identity documents and match a user's biometrics with liveness checks from the beginning of an interaction, facilitating security and smoother onboarding. For ongoing user protection, the platform offers biometric step-up authentication, designed to prevent account takeovers by verifying an individual's identity even if other credentials are compromised.

Platform orchestration

IDVerse's integration into the Dynamic Decision Platform allows for unified orchestration and comprehensive oversight of identity risk, seeking to streamline consumer access while maintaining compliance.

"Fraudsters innovate with speed and precision. Organisations can have both strong defenses and a seamless customer experience. This enhanced version of IDVerse delivers both. It enables efficient onboarding, sharper fraud detection and renewed trust at every stage of the customer lifecycle. We integrate innovative deepfake defenses and a more intuitive user experience, so organizations gain stronger protection without adding barriers for legitimate users," said Kimberly Sutherland, Global Head of Fraud and Identity, LexisNexis Risk Solutions.
