Action1 enters Australian market with local data centre

Fri, 6th Sep 2024

Action1, a provider of real-time vulnerability discovery and automated patch management solutions, has announced its expansion into the Australian market. This expansion involves establishing a local team and hosting services in a Sydney-based data centre, making Action1 the first US vendor specialising in patch management to do so in Australia.

The growing demand among local organisations to comply with the Australian Cyber Security Centre's (ACSC) Essential Eight framework through patch management automation is cited as a key driver for this move. The ACSC's Essential Eight Maturity Model, updated regularly, mandates organisations maintain short timeframes for patching security vulnerabilities to protect their endpoints against escalating cyber threats.

According to the 2024 Verizon Data Breach Investigation Report, vulnerability exploitation was a source of 180% of data breaches last year. In response to this growing threat landscape, Action1's establishment in Australia aims to help local organisations develop strategies for vulnerability remediation and patching that are strongly aligned with their specific needs.

Branden Boag, Director of Sales and Alliances at Action1, commented on the significance of this expansion. "With over ten years of experience living and working in Australia with various software companies, I understand how vital it is for them to invest in technology to maintain a competitive edge globally. They are highly security-conscious and aware of the risks of tech being compromised. The decision to enhance our offerings by providing data residency in Australia was significantly driven by requests from them, especially from Australian federal government clients," he stated.

Action1's customer base in Australia increased by 53% in the first half of 2024. This client base spans critical sectors such as government, education, healthcare, and construction.

Shaun DMonte, Senior Systems Administrator at Linkforce, endorsed Action1's offerings. "Action1's automation makes it easy to ensure all patches are applied within the timeframes required by the Essential Eight Framework and to manage the remediation process from a single dashboard, keeping us ahead in terms of security. Additionally, we value that it is a highly secure platform certified for ISO 27001 and SOC 2, and the ability to host locally on Australian soil is significant to satisfy our data sovereignty concerns and requirements," he said.

The expansion of Action1 into Australia represents a significant step in addressing the growing need for advanced cybersecurity solutions tailored to local compliance requirements. By establishing a local presence and providing data residency within the country, Action1 is positioning itself to better support Australian enterprises in managing their vulnerability remediation and patch management needs. This move aligns with regional regulatory standards and highlights Action1's commitment to enhancing its service offerings and supporting critical sectors in Australia. The company's plans for further team expansion and partnership development underscore its long-term investment in the Australian market.
